All in all, it’s been a strange week for me. Both tumultuous and rewarding at the same time.
Now being quartered in offices means I lose the best part of 2 hours per day, lost to the devil that is commuting. So I have work that bit harder. But I’m sure I’ll cope.
This is only the second time I’ve been in offices, the first time being an odd affair, which didn’t quite work out. However, this time, things are more organized, and there’s a plan.
Here’s the deal
I’ve been working along side a local print design agency for almost as long as Octane has been trading, and I’ve been running around since 1999, them a little longer.
They kept throwing me the odd job every now & then, but more often than not, the big projects always got away.
There’s no apportioning of blame, here. What you have is one company trying to sell the services of another, but not being conversant in the inner workings of what that other business does.
By the way, that relates to both businesses, not just Octane.
The dialogue with the client stalls, the issue is forgotten, the moment is lost.
Well that was then and this is now. With me working along side them, I’m on tap, as it were.
The dialogue keeps going, the client moves forward, the issue stays current and the moment gathers momentum.
So 2007 really is a totally new start for me in almost every way.
My whole lifestyle has been altered. Everything from waking hours to eating habits, travel, recreation and socializing.
How will that affect my commitment to Blah, Blah! Technology? Well, in the short term, the odd day might draw a blank every now & then, but that’s only until I get myself a new laptop, as this ‘ere iBook is a little old and she’s not quite up to the task of letting me work from home.
Once she’s been retired to less intensive pastures and I’ve got a newfangled MacBook Pro and normal service will be resumed, you’ll be happy to learn…
