		<description>It's worth bearing in mind that most technological advances come at times of war - world wars 1 &#38; 2 saw enormous leaps forward in mass production, aviation, etc and funding for new technologies often comes from the military. So I think it's fair to assume that any civilization advanced enough for interstellar travel will have had a long history of violence.
