Getting your content read isn't that hard actually when it's written with useful bits of information and maintain a level of quality that when people read the next thing they do is share it with friends. Another factor that could drive attention to any composition is the title. It should answer the question why they should bother to read it.

I think there's still a huge "build it and they will come" mentality out there. As I design new sites for clients, my client's eyes glaze over at the notion of spending time to market their sites. Later, they're unhappy with their site due to a lack of traffic. SEO/SEM has changed a lot, espeically recently, and will continue to evolves rapidly. Those small business owners who don't get on the SEM bandwagon will be left out.

Very good start guide.
But when you say "Wouldn’t it be great if your articles could be found easily with search engines like Google, Yahoo! or MSN?", I think it should be included on the "SEO & SEM tips for websites and blog" category.
