For instance, I had an affiliate redirect plugin running which ended up allowing spam sites to create their own redirects on the fly - I soon stopped using that plugin after seeing error messages in Webmaster Tools! I find Google Webmaster Tools really useful, particularly in highlighting potential issues there may be with your site, so you can quickly correct them before they damage your reputation/ranking.
