In actuality, people were walking in unison, which one could argue is the right way, relatively speaking, assuming you’re squad of soldiers on parade, that is.

If you're a squad of soldiers walking, whether in a parade or not, marching in unison is NEVER the right thing to do on a bridge. When a squad comes to a bridge, the commander will order "Bridge Step!" (an asynchronous method of marching)

Hi Will and thanks for the comment.

While I'll agree that Fractional Reserve Banking must have cost a lot of lives / livelihoods, it's not a technology but a financial scheme, so it wouldn't qualify for the purposes of this article.

That said, I can see that it's certainly an idea you could pursue for your own website — a top X article on financial and monetary mayhem over the last century...

It would be great to include banking technology to this list. Such as the Fractional Reserve Banking system that, among other things, allowed the Great Depression to happen, and continues to cause massive social stratification. It wouldn't be a stretch to see this invention as a main contributor to our current debt based economy, which disregards the environment, and demands the creation of more and more debt to fuel itself.

Ahh, a conspiracy theorist! I like a good conspiracy, which that article makes for.

Thanks for the comment, Aaron. Always appreciated...
