Honda’s carbon footprint? Button it, OK?!

Wednesday, 8 August 2007 — by Wayne Smallman

It’s always good to see a large corporate making all of the right socially responsible noises. It’s rare, but it’s always welcome. And when it comes to the environment, no one’s giving more than Honda right now…

So it’s heart-warming to see Honda doing their utmost to reduce their carbon footprint – with the unwitting and largely hapless assistance of fellow Englishman Jenson Button, in his first Formula 1 season with Honda – as Honda have yet to find something like winning form.

The amount of petrol saved alone from “retirements” and various mechanical faults is a wonderful gesture.

While the other teams surge off, polluting otherwise colourful and exotic parts of the world with their fuel emissions, in a desperate bid for the checkered flag .. not so Honda!

Probably not the kind of victory Jenson had in mind, but Honda are clearly off to a good start…

Love it! Too often the gas guzzling, CO2 spewing sectors of society make all kinds of claims of going “green”. At last one of them is putting their claims into action ;-)

This whole article is based on a comment I made t’other day as I watched the grand Prix with my dad.

So this is just a flowery, overly-verbose, high-octane revision, really…
