Apparently, I’m a ‘D list’ ‘blogger!

Friday, 17 November 2006 — by Wayne Smallman

But is that a good thing, or a bad thing? The fact that I’m mentioned on the same web page as the likes of Rand Fishkin (SEOmoz), Darren Rowse (Problogger), Robert Scoble (Scobleizer), Seth Godin and Steve Rubel (Micro-persuasion) et al .. or that I’m mentioned at all, I’d say it’s a good thing.

I actually had a quite separate article prepared for today, one to mark a minor milestone. So the aforementioned near miss with ‘blog stardom has been well received by yours truly even if it is somewhat fortuitous.

Not the humdinger of a milestone that you’d expect from such a prolific pen / pixel pusher like myself, but it’s a milestone none the less.

Today, I am 70 posts old…

I had another ‘blog for a time, but I don’t talk about that any more. That was a personal endeavor which did attract a tidy audience for a while, but didn’t truly reflect the direction I wanted to be heading towards.

Since the change of direction, I’ve gone and lost the audience I had as well as losing some of the momentum for a while, too.

However, I’m not back in action, writing like a gud’en and hoping to taking a little of my own advice by posting regularly.

In the past two months or so since I started posting again, I’ve taken my ‘blog from total obscurity to just relative obscurity, moving from being ranked 900k to 490k on Technorati, and over the next few months, I’d like to halve that again .. but only with your participation!

Also, if you like bite-sized morsels of information technology, science technology, new technology, computer technology, technology news, gadgets, business driven technology, a little medical technology, wireless technology, latest technology and my personal favourite, future technology, then you can also pop on over to my Clipmarks page and see some of the more up-to-the-minute stuff I tend to trip over during the course of my working day.

So remember: if you like or loathe my commentary, make yourself known and stop bloody lurking!

Oh yeah, click on stuff and buy some books, too .. that’d help…

Congrats on your bloglebrity!

Wayne Smallman → Friday, 17 November 2006 @ 15:04 BDT

Why thank you, my dear!

It’s worth noting that without Carolina, much of my writing would be in places misspelt, and at times grammatically nonsensical…

You mean things like:

“However, I’m not back in action … “

;^)

Oh, and: can I have your autograph?

Tim!

Tim!

Man, you’re still around!

I feel bad now for not keeping in touch.

I have no excuses for this neglect…

(I left a second comment earlier but it hasn’t appeared, so … )

Don’t feel bad - we could both be accused of neglect!

I’ve been lurking a lot lately, not having much to say since my old man passed away - full of apathy and not being bothered to do much. The onset of winter doesn’t help much, either!

Apparently, I’m a D-List blogger too (according to their widget-gizmo) although I’m guessing I’m nearer the bottom of the list than you … ;^)
